Rate Each Entry as :1-Needs Improving, 2: Satisfactory, 3: Very good Type of Contribution Rating Example I shared my ideas and offered suggestions 2 I contributed to why I thought Nicholas was a hypocrite in saying that we should get more oil and how I thought we weren't doing enough to help conserve oil I spoke clearly and slowly enough to be understood 1 Our group was yelling at each other half the time because we were pretty frustrated, and so naturally, I was yelling, obviously not speaking clearly or slowly. I answered others questions 3 Well our group made sarcastic comments and in return, I gave them sarcastic answers. Does that count? I remained on topic and helped the group stay focused 2 Our group ended our discussion with the topic of why we went to Iraq, for the oil, that's definetely relative to war. I was contributing my thoughts and our group was so into the arguement it was hard to get off topic. (aka sarcastic comments and a few yells thrown across) I enouraged others to participate 2 Our group had kind of a debate going on, so by challenging the other person I encouraged them to participate. I disagreed without hurting others feelings 1 Referring back to I spoke clearly and slowly enough to be understood, if you noticed, we were yelling at each other so I'm sure a few feelings were hurt in what we had to say to each other and I'm sure I hurt a few people's feelings. I summarized or repeated my ideas when necessary 2 I repeated my idea about oil, oil saving, and how we waste oil daily. I gave reasons for opinions 2 I clearly supported how we waste oil, we waste oil by having our parents drive us instead of walking, riding the subway, short distances because we're just too lazy. I listened courteously and effectively 1 I definetely heard what the other person had to say but definetely not in a courteous way. I tried to understand and extend the suggestions of others 2 Most times I was disagreeing with the other person and aruguing however, there were a few times I agreed with what another person had to say and backed them up. Such as when Jane countered that war was not inevetable. Some wars are fought for silly reasons, such as the Iraqi war, U.S. only went there for the oil. My most important contribution to the discussion was the fact that we waste oil when we really could conserve it. Although I have no idea how this is related to our story, if must have been related because our discussion went from war to wasting oil without any random thoughts popping up. My plan for improvement is to choose my group a little bit more carefully next time. I've discovered that in discussion, 8th grade boys and girls just don't work together to efficiently, especially people like me because I get frustrated with the other gender and loose control. So, do I get points for being honest or points off for being crude? |
